Being a proponent of “Prosperity Gospel” does work — no doubt. We have several “Name it & Claim it” preachers living lavish lifestyles. So it does work — if you are the leader.
Why does it work?
Because nothing has changed since some con man eyed his next mark and muttered, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” And if you have ever given a dime to one of these charlatans, being called a “sucker” is being polite. In 2016, private jet owner and Pentecostal preacher Kenneth Copeland refers to commercial airline fliers as “demons.”

“You can’t manage that* today. In this dope-filled world and get in a long tube with a bunch of demons.” Copeland stated this to his private jet owning friend and fellow Prosperity Gospel preacher Jesse Duplantis. “It’s deadly!”
Duplantis wholeheartedly agreed and went on to say he couldn’t do 90% of his ministry without his private jet.
Gullibility, greed, and the desire to easily get rich, is alive and well. And possessing a private jet allows the con men greater access to their many marks.
Religious Rule of Life #11 — “Never ever enter a church ‘unguarded’ – look, listen and question everything – especially the pastor.”

* — “can’t manage that” — the “that” refers to talking out loud to God or answering God out loud.
